A Bachelorette Weekend in Orlando
After months of planning and many hours spent at the dining table crafting, we finally made it to Jessica’s bachelorette weekend in Orlando, FL! If you remember her Parisian Bridal Shower a few months ago, this weekend was just as food and fun-filled! Our weekend went a little something like this:
After sitting in traffic for far too long, some of us arrived at the Marriott Grande Vista hotel to start decorating before the bride and MOH got there. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at the hotel, which was perfect for the 6 of us! We rushed to decorate since we lost some time in traffic, but managed to pull it all together almost in time before they arrived.
I made a “kiss the miss goodbye” sign for everyone to kiss and sign their name to so the bride can later put a picture from this weekend in the frame and always remember one of her last weekends as a miss!
Of course, I forgot the string that I needed for our banner (and to hang the panties on) and the peanut butter for a sweet treat I was going to make at the hotel, but that’s par for the course when doing these things I suppose. We improvised and it worked out okay.
I made a lingerie cake the night before the bachelorette and then iced it once we got to our room. I feel like I could have done a better job icing it, but I was in a hurry and using new tips that I haven’t used before, but everyone seemed to like it!
Everyone received a bachelorette gift bag that included a personalized wine glass with a gold glitter stem that I made (I will post a how to soon), a fluffy spa headband and manicure kit, dazzling diamond mini hand sanitzer, and a garter. And the bride’s gift bag also included a Feyonce shirt that I made using my Cricut machine and a tutorial I found here on Something Turquoise.
Friday night we went to The Melting Pot and enjoyed some delicious fondue at a table covered in rose petals and balloons. I could seriously just go there to eat the cheese and chocolate fondue! It’s also one of the bride’s favorite places to eat 🙂
Saturday was the “main day” for this bachelorette weekend. In the morning we got ready for our day and went to breakfast at Hash House A Go Go (you may remember me discovering this restaurant on our most recent trip to Las Vegas here). Everyone enjoyed their giant portions of food, so much that the MOH finally met her match in finishing her plate and had to get a to-go box. I’m not going to lie though, I do think the Vegas location was better…same food, but it tasted fresher/better. Still yummy though!
Following breakfast we took a ride on the Orlando Eye and toured Madame Tussauds Wax Musuem. The Orlando Eye is a giant ferris wheel, like the London Eye, but smaller. We were in our own enclosed room/box as we went around the wheel and had great views of Orlando. The Wax Museum was pretty cool! The figures were much more realistic than I expected, and I couldn’t help but think of House of Wax where stars like Jared Padalecki, Chad Michael Murray and Paris Hilton are turned into live wax figures where only their eyes can move. Luckily, I saw no moving eyes at this museum! We were a little bummed that there was no Britney Spears wax figure though… we heard her music playing as we walked into a room, but she wasn’t in there. But we did see figures of celebs like Taylor Swift, One Direction, Ryan Reynolds, Jen Aniston, The Beatles, Katniss, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein and many more. I would definitely recommend checking out these attractions next time you’re in the area and not at a theme park! And they are through the same building, as well as an aquarium, so you could easily spend a few hours there.
Everyone was still practically in a food coma after our large breakfast so some of stayed at the hotel to rest for a few hours and some went to the pool. Naturally, I was one that went to check out one of the two pools on site. The pool we visited was very large and had plenty of lounge chairs around, which was convenient because it was very crowded on this holiday weekend. We got there just in time to play Bingo, which we did not win, and hang around in the pool to keep cool. Even though we didn’t win, it was still a lot of fun and very relaxing!
Our next adventure of the day was a pole fitness class at Vixen Fitness. Most of us had done at least one pole class before but it had been a while for me at least. The class was fun, and difficult. Lol. “Poling” is a lot harder than some people may think, and it’s definitely not easy! Strippers have way more strength than I had ever thought. Poling isn’t just for strippers though, it really is a good workout that makes everyone feel a little sexier. Even though our instructor had only began pole dancing this year (and no, she isn’t a stripper, I asked) she still put on a good class and we had a good time!
Saturday night we stayed in and made personal pizzas in our villa (why we needed a kitchen in our room). The personal pizzas was a really convenient way to give everyone exactly what they wanted instead of 6 people having to agree upon one or two large pizzas for a restaurant. We spent the rest of the night eating cake, watching movies, and playing bachelorette games like a Kama Sutra word search, what’s in your purse, guess how many Skittles are in the jar, and we all got the bride a pair of panties and she had to guess who got her each one. We also took some bachelorette “mugshot” pics. Even though we didn’t drink, we made sure to mess up our hair and makeup to fit the scene. And no, we don’t all wear ridiculous pajamas…those colorful frocks are muumuus made by my grandmother for lounging around in.
Sunday morning after I attempted to make breakfast (I say attempted because I slightly overcooked all of the chocolate chip pancakes…oopsie) we packed up our stuff and hit the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets for a few hours before heading back to Tampa to have a little spa day at Essentials Carrollwood. If you’ve never heard of Essentials, I believe they have spas all over (Florida at least) and I’ve only tried the Carrollwood location, but I’ve never had a bad experience. And, how can you beat a good Swedish massage from a licensed masseuse for only $30? You can’t.
That just about sums up our weekend! My Facebook and Instagram feed showed quite a few bachelorette parties this weekend, which means wedding season is upon us! Anyone else throwing any bridal showers or bachelorette parties soon? I would love to hear about it in the comments below!
xx,
Kirsten
