Las Vegas Day 3 & 4

Our last few days in Las Vegas with the kids has been fun, except that K has been fighting a cold the whole trip, and I wasn’t sure if it was a cold or just traveling with a toddler. But it got worse on our last day, which was supposed to be our fun family day, of course. So we spent most of the day in the hotel room and at the doctor, where they confirmed she had an ear infection. Poor thing. We did meet some friends who happened to be in town for lunch at Hattie B’s in the Cosmopolitan (they had some really good chicken tenders by the way), but K slept most the time. Then we were supposed to leave that night, but due to the winter snowstorm hitting Seattle, we ended up rebooking our flight for the next day. Which worked out for her feeling a little better while traveling, and also because our original flight turned into a total travel nightmare. Think 2.5hr direct flight turned into a delayed, 5hr flight with a new destination, and didn’t make it to Seattle until 5AM. Definitely would have been miserable, especially with two littles!

Smoothies. Shopping. Shows.

So, the day before, we hit Jamba Juice for breakfast. I really wanted that blueberry French toast again, but figured a smoothie and oatmeal would be quicker. Plus, it was in the shopping area that’s attached to our hotel, so it was really easy to get to.

Then, we walked over to Bellagio again because K said she wanted to see the koi fish in the Lunar New Year display. Bellagio is right across from Caesars Palace, so we made our way over there next and walked around the Forum Shops. I love how all the big hotels in Vegas go all in on their themes. Walking around Caesars and the shops, feels like you’ve been transported to a totally different place. There’s white columns everywhere, and statues of Greek gods and fountains and whatnot.

There’s an animatronic show in the mall at Caesars that plays out the fall of Atlantis. It takes place right outside the Nike store and the Cheesecake Factory. It plays every hour on the hour and lasts 11 minutes. It’s a little cheesy, and hard to understand in my opinion, but it keeps the kids attention. It’s also a little more interesting if you’ve had a few drinks (I.e. you’re in Vegas without kids).

Hoover Dam. Steak. Cookies.

We had some time to kill, and the kids were tired, so we drove over to Chick-fil-a for lunch, which is about 10min from the Strip. They fell asleep immediately, and in order to keep them asleep, we chose to go see the Hoover Dam. We’ve walked around the Dam before, but we knew it was about 45min away and the perfect time for the kids to nap. So we drove over the Dam and then went back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. It sounds boring, but it was nice to have some quiet kid time so we could talk and just drive around for a little while.

STK Las Vegas

For dinner, we went to STK in the Cosmopolitan (where most of our meals were… lol). We actually ate there on our honeymoon when we spent a night in Vegas on our way to Hawaii. The steak is yummy, and the sides are pretty good. The environment is a cool and modern vibe. They opened one in San Diego before we moved, but we never made it while we lived there. We grabbed more cookies at Milk and then went to watch the fountains before calling it a night at the hotel.

Then, like I said before, our last day there was super low-key taking care of the sick babe. I hate when the kids get sick, especially on vacation because they’re also out of their element in a hotel and away from the comfort of home. So I feel even worse when it happens when we aren’t home. Which has happened the past few times we’ve been traveling, unfortunately. I will definitely be looking into some new vitamin options to help with their little immune systems while traveling.
