Surviving Wedding Season: Wedding Guest Essentials
Okay, so school is back in session in some cities and stores have already put out their Halloween decor, which means that soon there will be pumpkin-flavored-everything everywhere you go. This also means that round two of wedding season is fast approaching! We all know that spring and fall are the best seasons to wed, with March and October being two of the most popular months for weddings! Now that my own wedding has passed, I’m gearing up for a few weddings in October, and will hopefully have time to celebrate my own one year anniversary as well! Here are some essentials I will definitely have on hand for this wedding season:…

Back to School: Dorm Room Essentials
It’s that time of year again – stores have put out the back to school supplies and are starting on the Halloween decor, can you believe it’s already August?? I remember when I first moved into the dorms 7 years ago (WOW!!!), even though my dorm room was more of a 4 bedroom/2 bath apartment with a full kitchen and living room…on a lake… thank you FGCU. I was so excited to go shopping for my new room, and I learned quickly what was actually useful and what was a waste, so here’s my dorm room essentials list: Dorm beds are not very comfortable, so a mattress pad is a great…

Easy and Delicious Cuban Imperial Rice Recipe
I’ve probably mentioned before that my husband loves Cuban food, as he should seeing how he grew up in a Cuban household where his mother or grandmother would make delicious big meals two, and sometimes three, times a day. As someone who is not on that kind of cooking level, like at all, I’ve been pinning lots of ideas and found a few recipes for this Cuban dish called Arroz Imperial, which is basically a chicken and yellow rice casserole (to me, at least). It may seem like a lot is going on here, and there kind of is, but it’s really pretty easy to put together and doesn’t take…

The Bachelorette Finale Recap: And the winner is…
Tonight is the night! After 12 long weeks of watching Kaitlyn Bristowe date 26 men, it’s all down to Nick and Shawn. Will she pick Shawn? I hope. Will she pick Nick? I hope not. Or will she pick neither and stay single? I’m thinking that’s a strong possibility. Scroll to the end of this post to see who she picks, if you like spoilers like I do. First up for this episode we see Kaitlyn filling her family in about what two final contestants are left in the game. Her family is totally judging Nick for his previous season, and her mom totally gets that her attraction to Nick…

My Favorite Wedding Footwear
Happy Wedding Wednesday/Hump Day to everyone! Today I want to talk about some of my favorite shoes for walking down the aisle. There’s so many different options out there, so if you’re getting married soon, maybe this will help you make some decisions! Comfy I personally wore Chuck Taylor’s on my wedding day, in mint, of course! They were so incredibly comfortable to wear for 8+ hours, especially between getting up and sitting down and walking all around for pictures and greeting our guests. There’s also so many ways to wear the Converse: You could have them embroidered with your new monogram on the tongue, you could have your wedding…

The Bachelorette Week 11 Recap: Men Tell All
I haven’t figured out why they do this Men Tell All episode before the finale, but I guess that’s how The Bachelor works. Of course there’s red roses all around the set to remind the men that they didn’t get that red rose, and that’s why they’re here tonight. The show opened with promo talk about Bachelor In Paradise before cutting to a commercial. Yawn. I was doing that most of the show to be honest, in 2 hours (half of which was commercials) we didn’t really learn anything new, except that one of the guys will be on Bachelor in Paradise. Woo hoo? After a long recap of the…

DIY Buffet Table Makeover
Ever since becoming a homeowner, I’ve been itching to get crafty and re-do some pieces. Though I’ve totally messed up some projects, this project has had the best turnout so far! Our dining room table doesn’t have a matching buffet, and I’ve had a really hard time finding a wooden buffet that matched the dark brown wood of the table. So, we decided that we would do a white buffet, we just needed to find the right one and for a reasonable price. After about two weeks of searching Craigslist and local thrift stores, we found the perfect buffet on a Craigslist post by a local estate sale store. It…

Designer Hayley Paige Got Married This Weekend & It Was Just As Amazing As We Expected!
It’s not everyday that a wedding dress designer actually gets to wear her own creations down the aisle! But, when that day does come, you can count on it being one heck of party. This past Saturday, wedding gown designer Hayley Paige walked down the aisle in Lake Tahoe! Hayley is known for her super gorgeous and feminine wedding gowns with JLM Couture. Unfortunately, our invite got lost in the mail, so we followed along via Instagram, and here are the highlights that we’ve seen so far! First, let’s set the tone with these super awesome plexiglass invitations! So creative and unique and fun! I smell a new trend coming…

The Bachelorette Week 9 Recap
Oh, hello again, Monday! I don’t know why Monday can’t just take a hint and take a few days off every now and then. Anyways, last week on The Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe narrowed it down to 3 remaining suitors. Here’s my brief recap of week 9’s episode. The episode started with the Nick and Shawn drama we left off with last week, which unfortunately did not end the way I had hoped… with a good brawl. Next up was Ben for his overnight date with Kaitlyn, the day right after her overnight with Nick, I’m not sure how no one else finds that a little gross. They traveled around Ireland on some pretty horses,…

Best Spaghetti Sauce You’ll Ever Make
A little fun fact about me, that my husband is well aware of- I’m a terrible cook and a picky eater, but he married me anyways! My husband comes from a Cuban family that makes big meals every chance they get that are always super delicious and flavorful, so I’m always browsing Pinterest for recipe ideas for dinner to try to keep up. If it was up to me, I would live on chocolate chip pancakes/waffles, Lucky Charms and an occasional spinach salad to maintain a healthy balance. Too bad for me, my husband doesn’t share the same thoughts, thus I rely heavily on Pinterest for easy-to-make recipes and recipes that my picky-self…
