Things To Do: Top Golf in Tampa
This weekend I surprised Joe with a little Father’s Day outing to Top Golf in Tampa/Brandon. We picked up my little brother on our way and got there early Saturday morning when they opened at 8am. I wanted to get their early so we could have breakfast and beat any crowds, and that was a great idea. Within about 30-45 minutes of being there, the line to get in was out the door.
If you’ve never been to a Top Golf location before, it’s basically like the golf version of bowling. The facility has 3 floors, and you have your own little area with a tee off space, a table with chairs, and a computer to show you current scores and to pick what type of “game” you want to play. There are different “targets” that you get points for depending where your ball lands. There’s also a full bar and restaurant, as well as an indoor game area with foosball. We had a great time and spent 2 1/2 hours playing the different games available. I was pretty impressed with the food, I had heard good things before going, but still didn’t have high expectations.
I had the french toast and the boys both had chicken and waffles. We followed with injectable donut holes for dessert. They were super delicious and a great idea. You have the option of chocolate, jelly, or bavarian cream to inject into the plain donut holes. I want to make these at home asap!
I only won one of the games we played, so of course I have to post the proof. I love winning, even if it was only because the boys had a terrible round and most of my balls just happened to fall off the edge of the platform and rolled into a net.
I’m not a great golfer, but Top Golf can be fun for anyone, a golfing regular or someone who’s never played. It would definitely be fun with a larger group at night time when you can sit back and have some food and drinks and hit some balls. They don’t currently accept reservations, so if you don’t get there early you should expect a possible wait. I would definitely recommend it if you have one nearby, or if you’re ever in the area.
How did you spend your Father’s Day weekend? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
xoxo,
Kirsten
